The Militarization of our Police

Britain was once the largest power in the world. They colonized more countries than any other European state and were hated in much of the world. The truth is, the countries they did colonize are many of the most successful in modern times, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand and several countries of Africa. As the Monarchy has been exposed to the world in scandal after scandal starting for many with Diane are they showing Their strength in the heavy handed approach they’ve taken during the covid made up pandemic?

The world is witnessing a new era in policing. It wasn’t too long ago that incidents like Tiananmen Square drew condemnation from the entire world. Now we watch governments thinking nothing about brutalizing their citizens. “ excuse me, I’ll need to leave tea a little early today. I’ve got to go bang some protesters with my club.” Our society has changed. It used to be that you could argue that our police, along with teachers and other groups were under paid. It isn’t so any longer. At least in America. Policemen in metro areas are earning with overtime upwards of $200k a year in many cases. The days of teachers earning in the low $20k are long over. All are unionized. Their pay isn’t the problem though. Much of the problem with policing is the trend towards militarization of their forces. Starting with Viet Nam, military equipment started winding up in the hands of the everyday policemen. The gulf wars brought huge arsenals of weapons and other gear, such as night vision and vehicles. Do the police forces need to stay current with advances in weaponry? Of course. The threat of violence towards them has grown too but, I believe we are replacing the purpose of policing to a military, which is not their mission.

In Japanese culture the Samurai were not only the ruling class’s warriors but also the small forces of the local politicians. Much the same as our modern day police force except they also collected taxes and concubines for their masters. Other countries had small groups of warriors working for their masters. It continues today. Look at Africa, much of the Middle East and South America. Have the modern day police force just caught up with the rest of the world? There are a lot of good people in the police forces around the world but make no mistake, it takes a special personality to successfully live out a career. That is also why you see a larger percentage winding up as suicides. I don’t know whether the duties they are being asked to do now will increase it or not but look at the suicide rate amongst the military.

What this brings is our current situation in Canada though you could also say France, Great Britain, Australia and even the US. Are we turning towards a time of paid mercenaries, as overseers to the general population? Sadly, if it isn’t stopped we will. In America our founders left us with a constitution. They also left us with a system where it could be attacked every day. Will our country come to the point where we have to use it. Through the ages, warlords were overtaken by warlords with more men. Now the petty politicians have their own forces in the police. The question will come down to whether the non military forces, the police will chose a constitutional free society or enjoy the new found powers of the feudal society the left is driving us to.

Excellent article. The current police forces in the US and probably other countries have all been indoctrinated by the leftist education system. There is little hope that they think for themselves or even understand the oath they took to protect and defend the Constitution. I do believe the suicide rate is high when one comes to the realization that one has been duped into following orders he knows are unlawful and immoral. Virtue is a hard emotion to conceal or ignore. Most folks do have a conscience.

I am not sure that there is a case in history where the police have chosen not to follow their rulers. Law enforcement is just a tool, and therefore it responds to a leadership entity of some kind or another. I think that many individuals would leave the force rather than go against innocent citizens, but there are plenty of power-hungry people in law enforcement more than willing to stomp on the people given the chance.
